The house was originally a neighborhood corner store that had been remodeled numerous times before our client’s bought it. They love the natural sunlight and the modern, airy feel of the home and its location in a great neighborhood.
Kitchen
The kitchen renovation opened up the living space and connected it to the rest of the living space by replacing the peninsula and cabinets above with an island that improved traffic flow. The clean, modern style cabinets were custom made here locally in Seattle. They feature blind corner pullouts and drawers that maximize storage and making it easy to reach things. We helped our client select just the right color of midnight blue for the cabinets that she had envisioned for so long. The Paloma quartz countertops complement the streamlined look while being durable and easy to maintain. The backsplash is laid in a traditional subway pattern but with a larger tile format, giving the nod to tradition but with a clean, modern feel.
We eliminated a dropped ceiling and soffits, which created a seamless ceiling height throughout the main floor. We moved appliance locations to maximize the cabinets and countertops and make them easier to use. We also rebuilt the floor structure at the kitchen/dining area to fix the poor construction from the past. All the flooring on the main floor was replaced as well, tying everything together seamlessly.
Bathroom
The client wanted to replace the combination tub/shower with something that was easy for her aging mom to use while visiting. They need additional storage and the space was dark and closed off. They wanted it to be light and airy to match the rest of the modern aesthetic of the home.
We designed the bathroom with a curbless shower for ease of entry, removing the wall between the shower and vanity to bring in more light from the window and make the space feel bigger. The vanity was replaced with this beautiful new floating modern style. We added a built-in shelving and storage.
